Updated LibreOffice growth infographic (2020)

Right after celebrating a great LibreOffice 10th Anniversary, we are delighted to present the 2020-version of our LibreOffice growth infoGraphic, including beautiful visuals and interesting numbers! We do hope you appreciate it and would love to hear your feedback. And of course it is great if you find the format, in which it is presented, convenient to share.

Many numbers are again up. Our devs are top code contributors to LibreOffice with 7518 code commits. And the popular “Collabora Online Development Edition” (CODE), for home use & small teams (find details here), has over 50 million Docker image pulls! We are extremely grateful for all partners and customers working with us to make this possible.

Soon there will be the  LibreOffice Conference 2020 (October 14 to October 16), where you can meet developers, including of course our developers, and other contributors from the community, and attend the online sessions of the talks of our developers.

Try out Collabora Office and Collabora Online!

Collabora Online and mobile now with full CJK support

Starting from today’s release more users around the globe will benefit from Collabora Office on iOS and Android! With the just released version 4.2.6 there is full support of CJK fonts and also the user interface has various related improvements.
Fonts available on your mobile device for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic and other scripts, will now be used by the app. This gives many new users the native usability they need, the privacy and control over their data with a quality product they expect from a Collabora.

The latest Collabora Online has some related improvements too.

 

Which scripts are now supported

The updated Collabora Office mobile apps do now support a wide range of scripts and fonts natively available on your phone. Namely, those are:

  • Chinese (Mandarin, simplified)
  • Chinese (Mandarin, traditional)
  • Hindi
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Thai
  • Vietnamese

Improvement in fontconfig

The support for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and other previously unsupported scripts, could be added thanks to a performance fix in fontconfig. This allows resulted in a much improved loading time of the app. Thanks to Behdad Esfahbod (branch faster), fontconfig authors and contributors, and Michael Weghorn (for updating fontconfig) for their work on this!

New updates for Collabora Online and Collabora Office for iOS & Android – version 4.2.4

We are glad to announce a new update of our flagship products Collabora Online and Collabora Office for iOS & Android! Version 4.2.4 adds new features and improves the usability of our collaborative online office suite both on PCs and mobile devices. It is now possible to select multiple sides from the slide pan and duplicate or delete the complete selection. In text documents, it was already possible to add tab stops on the ruler. Now you can also delete these via the context menu on the PC or through a long click on your mobile device.

More new features do enhance the user experience on mobile devices. It is possible to search text in read-only documents. The word count functionality has been added to the upper left burger menu (≡), allowing you to count the content of selected text.

New features overview

  • Multiple slide selection on slide pane (delete or duplicate multiple slides)
  • Delete tab stop from ruler with context menu (PC) or long tap (tablet/phone)
  • New Insert Table dialog from menu Table in Writer and Impress (PC/tablet)
  • Word Count dialog can be started from the burger menu (≡) on phones
  • Search functionality added to read-only mode on phones
  • Log page on Admin Console where admins can view logs and set log level
  • Dropped dependency to locales-all package

Also more possibilities are offered when you are inserting tables. Therefore, start the Dialog Insert Table from the menu.

  • Fixed zoom of drop-down list in Writer documents
  • Fixed missing text selection handles on formula bar
  • Fixed scrolling on multi line formula bar (mobile)
  • Fixed flickering during zoom in Writer
  • Don’t overwrite the copy of the document that we are editing on iOS (tdf#133278)
  • Do not import hidden text frames from HTML/Clipboard that Writer does not support
  • Fixed Chinese (Taiwan) localization of sidebar
  • Fixed: in Impress hyperlink were inserted as button instead of text object
  • Fixed a crash in Japanese Calc
  • Fixed ‘Insert – Image’ and ‘Create from Template’ features when the WOPI-like host has self-signed SSL certificate
  • Updated translations
  • and many more fixes

Collabora Office for Android & iOS version 4.2.3 released

New features to work with your DOCX and ODT text document as well as performance improvements and fixes

Version 4.2.3 of our popular mobile apps Collabora Office for Android and iOS has been released. This update includes improvements and fixes on performance and stability plus updated translations. You read more about these in our release notes. Version 4.2.3 also brings new handy features for when you work with DOCX, ODT or other text documents.

In version 4.2.3 of our mobile app it is now possible to handle tabstops with a touch on the ruler. This function is available on tablets. The ruler is not shown on the small displays of phones.

Page setup panel on phones

Also in writer, the hamburger menu on phones now opens the page setup panel. You can set size, orientation and margins.
