Ag-I Solutions and Ebikko open the door to the Asian Electronic Document Management market for Collabora and LibreOffice.

Kuala Lumpur – 23 March 2016

ag-i_solutions

Ag-I Solutions, the creators of the Ebikko Electronic Records Management Suite and Collabora Productivity, the driving force behind LibreOffice Online, are to deliver a joint solution in the second quarter of 2016.

The integrated offering is in response to significant market demand to both create and collaborate over documents within the Ebikko Records Management Suite rather than having to depend upon an external source. Ebikko, an APICTA award-winning cloud application built to ISO 16175 standards, will use Collabora CloudSuite technology to enable the additional functionality.

Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 12.15.35 AM

“The records management market has been complicated by the emergence of the giant cloud providers” says Michael Meeks, General Manager at Collabora Productivity. “The marriage of Ebikko and Collabora CloudSuite redresses this balance in favour of simplicity and control by allowing enterprises and governments to create, manage and collaborate over documents wherever they wish, either behind their own firewalls or on a public cloud or territory of their choosing”.

“Ag-I has been using LibreOffice for many years to provide data conversion services amongst office file formats” says Steve Kucia, CEO of Ag-I. “We are now in a position to take our integration much further by integrating CloudSuite technology directly with our web based application. From within Ebikko users will now be able to immediately create and collaborate on record content without the need for any external software. More over the user is in control of where that content will be stored, in their private cloud or country based public clouds. Data sovereignty has become a big issue, not only for governments but also commercial enterprises. The combination of Ebikko and CloudSuite technology solves all these issues. In addition as the whole system is web based and multi lingual the rollout and maintenance of the application becomes far simpler, one of the main benefits of cloud based systems; no more software downloads.”

Changes from 4.4 to 5.0

A lot of changes have been made. Many of the improvements are under the hood, but Collabora Office 5.0 also significantly improved the User Interface. Remote file open/save dialogue

collabora_office_5_0_remote_filesApart from the list of new and improved features mentioned above, we also integrated others that were not available in LO 5.0. One that stands out is the Remote file open/save dialogue. You can now easily open and save remote files from resources as Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Alfresco and others. In the Start screen and “File” menu you can find the “Open remote files” option, and to save to a remote resource, just select “Save to remote server”.

Manage complex user needs with ease

As with our previous version, Collabora Office 5.0 also allows system administrators to quickly apply per-user configurations to large-scale deployments thanks to extended support for Windows Server ADMX Group Policy templates. Developed by Collabora, this facility allows multiple users on a single machine to have separate local settings, managed centrally by an administrator. These include over 25,000 options such as those relating to language, security, and file formats.

Security fixes

Our previous version, LibreOffice-from-Collabora 4.4, has been updated too. We have applied security fixes and released version 4.4-11. For more details, check out the release notes.
