“Real Time, Secure Collaboration” presentation at Nextcloud Conference 2017

From August 22 until August 29, Nextcloud held their annual conference, including a enterprise day, providing enterprise focused talks about large scale use of Nextcloud, security, scalability, Real Time & Secure Collaboration with Collabora Online, and much more.

Collabora Productivity’s General Manager Michael Meeks gave a talk about Collabora Online in Nextcloud. Collabora Online is a powerful LibreOffice-based online office that supports all major document, spreadsheet and presentation file formats, which is easy to deploy in Nextcloud, as a simple extension. Key features are collaborative editing and excellent office file format support.

Nextcloud introduces editing from a public shared link with Collabora Online

nextcloudLast week Nextcloud 11 was released by our partner Nextcloud. This release, focused brings notable improvements to the Collabora Online 2.0 integration, the enterprise ready cloud document suite solution created by Collabora Productivity and available from Nextcloud.

Accelerated document opening

Collabora Online is a particular beneficiary of the significant scalability and performance improvements in Nextcloud 11, making it very much faster to open documents. Now small documents open almost instantaneously, delivering a much nicer and snappier experience for Nextcloud users.

Collaborative editing from a shared public link

Until now, usage of Collabora Online in Nextcloud was restricted to users with a Nextcloud server account. Nextcloud 11 introduces a new feature of sharing links that allow viewing and editing of documents on a Nextcloud server.

Nextcloud users can create a public link to a document that recipients will be able to use to view and collaborate around editing it in real time – based on the permissions provided! When a Nextcloud user shares a public link to a folder and enables editing the files in it, the documents in that folder can also be edited by anyone who has been given the public link.

Nextcloud and Collabora Partner to Offer Community and Enterprise Solution for Online Office

Collabora Online provides users with a full cloud document suite handling all major documents, presentations and spreadsheet formats while retaining privacy and security.
