Features

  • Improved watermark rendering in Secure View.
    • It is possible to override watermarks from the config file.
    • Watermarks are 45° rotated.
    • Watermarks are not displayed outside of the document area.

  • Search results are highlighted in read-only documents.

  • Action_Save now supports ExtendedData with custom contents, which is passed to the WOPI-like Host.
  • New setting to always save documents on exit and upload to the WOPI-like Host.
  • Introduced the “TemplateSource” WOPI property (for Nextcloud’s GlobalScale architecture).
  • New platform supported: CentOS 8 / RHEL 8

Bug-fixes

  • Improved stability, shutdown, and service life-cycle management.
  • Calc’s NOW() function shows the server’s local time correctly

  • Packages for Debian 10.
  • The order of slides can now be changed via drag-and-drop.
  • Scrolling in Calc  is much faster.
  • With secure collaboration there is a different watermarks for each user.

  • Improved startup → less flicker, hide progress-bar for ~2-3 seconds.
  • A new setting to force that when a document is closed, it is always upload to storage, also when it’s not changed.
    For this there is the new setting per_document.always_save_on_exit.
  • The dimming when a document is not actively in use, is much more relaxed. About 4 times slower.

Bug-fixes

  • Occasional erroneous limits popup is now gone.
  • Font size list behaved wrong, not showing fonts in some situations.

An easy way to get your own private office suite with Collabora Online for Nextcloud or ownCloud

Univention Corporate Server (UCS) offers the easiest way to start using Collabora Online together with Nextcloud or ownCloud in few minutes.

With Collabora Online app appliance with Nextcloud or ownCloud, you install Collabora Online with an already integrated and preconfigured Nextcloud or ownCloud. Once you completed a simple graphical setup with a web-based administration interface, you can use the online office and cloud file sharing solution directly.

Installation guide – Collabora Online

1. Download all the necessary components

First, choose between Nextcloud or ownCloud as your main cloud file sharing solution for your deployment.

 

Then, you are ready to download it. You need to choose which virtual machine you want to use for the appliance. You can use VMWare or VirtualBox.

And, finally, you can download Collabora Online and Nextcloud or ownCloud VM for the virtual machine that you have chosen.

2. Import the appliance

You simply need to open your VM appliance and import your Collabora Online aplication.

Univention provides you a useful Guide for Virtual Appliance Import in case you need more information.

3. Install Collabora Online

As soon as you have successfully imported the image, you can start your Virtual Machine and proceed with all the necessary steps from the installation wizard. It is a very simple graphical setup with a web-based administration interface.

First, you need to set up the localization and your language.

Next, you need to set up your domain and network. You can select your IP manually or choose the automatic option. Then, simply fill in the address of the DNS server where you will host the server.

Now, in this step you can choose between:

  • manage users and permissions directly on this system – to create a new domain.
  • join into an existing UCS domain
  • join into an existing Microsoft Active Directory domain

If you are creating a new environment, we recommend to use the first option: “manage users and permissions directly on this system.

Now is time for your account or company information. Simply fill in your Organization name, Email address from the admin and create a password for the administration of the application.

In this step you need to write the complete domain name for the system and also the LDAP base you are going to use.

Now, you have all your settings in this window. You can review them and confirm that everything is Ok to be able to proceed by clicking in the “Configure System” button.

If everything is Ok, then you have your Collabora Online appliance up and running, ready to be used. You will get a confirmation window like this:

Collabora Online 4.0.3 Released

Cambridge, United Kingdom, March 26, 2019Collabora Productivity, the driving force behind bringing LibreOffice to the cloud, is excited to announce a new release of our enterprise product Collabora Online 4.0.3. This release comes with lots of bugfixes and a few minor new features.

What’s new in Collabora Online 4.0.3?

New features

  • Follow other editor behavior: we now show the flag with the suer name above the other users’ caret when they are typing or moving around in the document. When the other user stops interacting, the flag fades away after a second or two.

  • In impress – we added keyboard bindings to allow switching slides with up/down arrow keys when the slide pane is focused.
  • The Help URL is now configurable in /etc/lookitconfig.xcu and when the URL is unset, the Help buttons inside dialogs are hidden.
  • MPLv2 code subset configuration is now built by default.
  • Restored sort buttons to the toolbar in Calc – present in 3.4, and back by popular request in 4.0.3.

Notable bugfixes

  • In some circumstances the convert-to folder could become filled with documents – we made the cleanup of in-progress conversions much more robust.
  • When no avatar is available – we now show user colors:
  • Do not disable the Close Document menu for read-only docs

  • Last modification link should lead to revision history only when revision history feature is enabled
  • Show a normal statusbar in narrow window
  • Localization fixes
  • Fix Save As when ‘%’ character is used within the filename
  • Disable Thesaurus menu, when thesaurus is not available
  • Fix a crash, when trying to accept changes
  • Fix a crash, that occurred when no spelling dictionaries were available
  • Make PDF exported watermarks (when printing) look more similar to the watermarks shown in the online editor – when tiles are watermarked.
  • Fix rare corner-cases where under heavy load, concurrent editors may have had their changes attributed to other users.
